LET’S PAINT
BASIC DESIGN
Flower shapes: Using the #12 shader brush and thinned (transparent) Burnt Sienna, basecoat in the flower shapes. Allow to dry thoroughly.
Sideload the same brush with Burnt Sienna and, with the loaded edge toward the outside of the flower shapes, pull appropriate strokes (S, C, and Commas) to shade and create dimension. On the tulip, shade the inside edge of the left (underneath) petal to set it behind the top (right) petal.
Leaf shapes: Still using the #12 shader brush, load with Hauser Medium Green to paint the leaf strokes. Use a long S-stroke for the large left and center leaves and a long C-stroke for the right one.
Using the #8 shader brush, load with Hauser Medium Green and pull comma- strokes to form all the other leaf forms shown in the #1 basic design pattern and worksheet.
OVERSTROKES
Flowers: Using the #4 round brush, load with Burnt Sienna and pull the comma-strokes around the outsides of the flower forms as indicated on the #2 Over- stroke pattern. Do not paint the tendrils at this point.
Leaves: Still using the #4 round brush, load with Hauser Light Green, tip lightly into Warm White, and pull comma-strokes on the tips of and inside the large leaf shapes, as indicated on the pattern and worksheet #2.
Continue using the #4 round brush and Hauser Light Green to pull all the comma- strokes along the stems and onto the bottom of the two stems.
Flowers: Load the #4 brush with Warm White. Pull comma-strokes inside the flower forms, following the line drawing and painted example #2.
All the dots are applied using the brush handle tip.
