HAWAIIAN
HUMU FISH
Judy Pino
My favorite Hawaiian fish is the Humuhumunukunukuapua’a. It was thrilling to see it for real when snorkeling on the Big Island, and at aquariums
on Maui and Oahu. The Humu Fish is a triggerfish that hides in rocks and crevasses to dart out and catch its prey. It is the official state fish of Hawaii. As a painter, I love its beautiful colors and design. I hope you will enjoy painting it as much as I loved designing and painting the picture. Also included in the picture is a yellow hibiscus, the Hawaiian State Flower; the red blossoms and berries of the Ohia Tree, which is the tree of the Big Island of Hawaii; and an interesting fern I saw on the Big Island of Hawaii, which I thought was cute and unusual. It is my pleasure to share my Hawaiian design with you, and I hope you will enjoy painting it.
