46 The Decorative Painter • ISSUE NO. 4, 2015
Ihave a collection of items with strawberry designs in my kitchen. Several pieces were painted by Peter Om- pir, along with some by Werner Wrede and John Dunn, both of whom studied with Ompir. This is my inter-
pretation of their strawberries on a hand turned cup. “The Fruits of the Spirit are Peace, Love, Joy...” (Galatians 5:22- 23). I wish for you to enjoy these three things in your life.
PREPARATION
Apply a basecoat of Spicy Mustard to the cup. Using the dry L dome brush, pick up Soft Black. Take out excess paint on your palette, and dry brush along the outside edges of cup “bowl”, under where the strawberry design will be on the cup, as well as on the top and the bottom of the “stem.” Trace on the strawberries pattern.
