  artist’s sketch
Barbara Bunsey began painting over 25 years ago, taking her first acrylic classes with Phyllis Tilford, and
studying with many nationally and internationally-known decorative artists over the years. Barbara began teach-
ing this art form, and continues to teach on a regular basis, in her home studio. She joined SDP in 1988. Bar-
bara has been commissioned by Colonial Williamsburg to paint pieces sold in the foundation’s shops. She was
honored to have an ornament selected for the official White House Christmas Tree in 2004, and had the honor
of meeting First Lady Laura Bush at a reception for the artists whose ornaments were chosen. In 2005 Barbara
painted an ornament to grace the Christmas tree at the Library of Congress. In 2008 Barbara was one of four
artists contacted by the Society of Decorative Painters and asked to submit a design to Mrs. Laura Bush. Barbara was chosen to paint 1,000+ ornaments that President and Mrs. Bush used as gifts to family, friends, and White House staff.
Barbara is also very involved in her church and community. You may contact Barbara at: Barbara (Franzreb) Bunsey, 909 Berkshire Drive, Macedonia, OH 44056; (330) 467-7402; bbunsey@calicogoose.com; or visit her website at www.calicogoose.com.
