FINISHING
I usually wait 24 hours to let the paint dry completely. Once dry, gently wipe off any remainder of the white wax crayon. It will come right off. Then you are ready to heat-set your piece. Place the jar in a cool oven in the center of the rack. Turn on the oven to 350 degrees and
set the timer for 30 minutes. Then turn off the oven and allow the surface to cool completely before removing it from oven. I usually wait about an hour. When you take it out and it’s cool enough, wash it with non-abrasive soap/sponge and warm water.

Brenda Dee Cook, a brand new SDP member, has been painting since she could hold a brush and winning
art contests since the age of eight. After receiving two scholarships for art, she studied fine art and design in
Illinois and her hometown of San Francisco. When she was 17, she got her first job as an illustrator and
graphic designer. Her entire career has revolved around fine and commercial art, from running her own graphic
design and illustration business to selling commissioned watercolor portraits, animating video games, designing
websites and corporate media ... you name it. She loves being able to combine many years of graphic design
and illustration experience with a strong appreciation for gardening, music, travel, and home decor to create
original, functional handmade gifts for any occasion. Email Brenda at brendadeecook@gmail.com or visit her website at www.lemon- treeworkshop.com.
