LEAVES/STEMS
STEP 1: Lay in Olive Green at the base of the leaf, vein shadow, and edge opposite vein shadow using tiny circular strokes and feathering edges. On the stems, apply Ol- ive Green at the left edge feathering toward the center and in the darker shadow areas. STEP 2: Apply Yellow Green over the rest of the leaf, feathering into Olive Green. Apply Yellow Green to the right edge of the stem feathering toward the center into Olive Green.
STEP 3: Apply Deco Yellow to highlight area of leaf and the far right edge of the stem. STEP 4: Burnish the leaf and stem; reapply Olive Green and Yellow Green as before, blending smoothly into each other. Go over the entire leaf and stem with Lime Peel. Apply Deco Yellow in highlight area on the leaf, blending smoothly and on stem, re- apply Deco Yellow on far right edge. Reapply any colors as needed to create a smooth transition of values.
PETALS
STEP 1: Apply Yellow Green to base and tip of the petal. This is also applied in the shadow where one petal lays over another.
STEP 2: Apply White over the center area of the petal blending into Yellow Green. STEP 3: Burnish, working the pigment into the fabric, then reapply Yellow Green and White, blending smoothly into each other.
STEP 4: Create veins with a sharp point and Yellow Green; streak a line from the base into the white center area. Using White and a sharp point, streak alongside the Yel- low Green lines reinforcing highlights. Olive Green can be used sparingly to reinforce some of the deep shadow areas. Reapply colors as needed for a smooth blend.
