BACKGROUND
LET’S PAINT
STEP 1
Shade around the outside edge of the surface with Black Green. Shade the outer edges of all sections 1 through 6 with Black Green. Section 1 is also shaded with Black Green against the center circle. Sections 2 and 4 are shaded with Black Green down into the throats of the areas. Paint the center circle with Black Green.
STEP 2
Using the Bringle Round Blender, or
your favorite round dry brush, highlight the centers of sections 1 through 5 and the center circle with Green Lagoon. Pick up the paint in your dry brush and rub it in a circular motion on a paper towel or lint-less cloth until there is just a small amount of color coming off the brush on the towel. Using light pressure and the side of the brush, apply the highlight with a circular motion working from the center of each section. Dry. You can repeat this step to brighten your highlights.
STEP 3
The straight and curved comma strokes in sections 1, 3 and 5 are Black Green using the shorter liner. The crosshatching to sections 2, 4 and 6 is Black Green using the longer liner. Sections 2 and 4 have two lines going each direction and section 6 has four lines going each direction. The linework on the center is Green Lagoon with the long liner. Outline sections 1 through 5 with Green Lagoon and the long liner. Outline section
6 with Black Green. STEP 4
Stylus dots around the center are Green Lagoon and are placed on the outside edge of the circle in between each section 1. The dots in between the 3rd sections are Teal. The dots in section 5 are Green Lagoon; the center dot above the straight comma stroke is slightly larger than the two (2) dots above the curved comma strokes. The dots on the outside edges of section 6 are Black Green in descending size from the tip down the edge to where it meets section 5.
Sand and seal the surface if it is wood. Paint the entire surface with a mix of Teal Green and Black Green (3:2). Transfer the design with well-worn white graphite paper.
