Bienvenue means “welcome” in French. I love homes that have beautiful facades and inviting entries. What better way to welcome someone into your home than
to paint the front of a cozy little house with a welcoming sign on the front door. Maybe you’ll want to invite some- one through the door for a chat, some tea, or simply time with family and friends.
PREPARATION
Using the 3⁄4" wash, seal the entire house with DecoArt Multi-Purpose Sealer. Sand and wipe clean. Now create a pud- dle of Celery Green and a puddle of Hauser Medium Green on your palette. Dampen a sea silk sponge with water, squeezing out any excess water. Dab one side of the sponge into Celery Green and the other side into Hauser Medium Green. Pounce the sponge up and down on your palette to slightly blend the two colors, and then basecoat the entire house except for the roof. Move the sponge in different directions while basecoat- ing. Let this dry, and then apply a second coat to ensure ev- erything is covered. Pick up a little Limeade on the sponge, and sparingly sponge this color over the basecoat color. Let it dry completely.
Using a no. 6 scumbler with watered-down Hauser Dark Green, flyspeck the front and back of the house. Allow it to dry. Using a 3⁄4" wash, basecoat the roof with Country Red. Using a no. 6 scumbler, dry-brush Pumpkin down the roof topsides and on the side edges. Using a 3⁄8" angular, float Rockwood Red shading, under the roofline next to the house.
