Rummage through your attic or check your local thrift store for a silver plated tea service or mis- matched pieces to paint this holiday treasure. Paint-
ing a holiday motif in traditional colors and classic metallic gold trim can unify unmatched patterns. The bold graphic patterns add a touch of modern whimsy and make this set an eclectic addition to your holiday décor.
PREPARATION
Use soap and water to clean silver plated pieces of any residue. There is no need to remove tarnish. Apply Everlast- ing to all surfaces. Repeat until opaque. Sand lightly between coats for a smooth finish. Let dry overnight. Spray with Kry- lon Workable Fixative.
Basecoat the light areas on the teapot, sugar bowl and tray with Bleached Sand. Tape off the light green sections of the sugar and creamer. (See photo on page 17 as a guide.) Ap- ply a basecoat with Foliage Green+tch Snow (Titanium) White to the area below the tape. Remove tape. Using the angular shaders and Hauser Medium Green+tch Foliage Green, float shading in light green areas. Use 1⁄2" mop to soften.
Underpaint the red areas with Grey Sky. Let dry. Apply another basecoat in Cinnamon Drop.
Apply a basecoat to the dark green area of teapot (where holly will be placed) with Hauser Dark Green+Midnite Green (2:1). Spray with Krylon Workable Fixative.
