   artist’s sketch
Chris Watson started painting in 1980 at a local shop. That led to her first “Big Brush” experience with Jackie
Shaw at her Grist Mill Studio in Maryland. From there it was love at first brush stroke. She joined SDP and the
Yankee Heritage Tole chapter in 1988. As an active member of her chapter, she served as an officer and board
member for many years. Chris also served as chairman on various committees for the New England Traditions
Convention. In the late 1980s, working for the Illinois Bronze paint company gave her the opportunity to travel-
teach, demo at conventions, and get her certification in faux finishing. She has taught at the SDP Convention in
Peoria, the NWDA Seattle Convention, and at several New England Traditions Conventions. In addition to having
two ornaments in the SDP Collection at the Smithsonian Institute in Washington, D.C., Chris has also been published in the Create & Decorate and Paint Works magazines. She just completed her first painting video with purelyacrylics.com. Chris enjoys travel-teaching, designing new patterns, and teaching in her home studio. You may contact her at 30 Kempton Street, Millville, MA 01529; (508) 876-1122; www.chriswatsondesigns.com.
