HYDRANGEA LEAVES
STEP 4: Add bright area on petals using a no. 2 flat with Highlight Mix. Add tint with no. 4 flat with Reflect.
ROSE BUD
STEP 1: Apply Dark Mix with no. 4 flat.
STEP 2: Add Low Dark Mix into more dark areas with no. 4 flat.
STEP 3: Apply Highlight Mix and Light Mix with a no. 4 flat.
STEP 4: Soft blend all area with no. 2 mop. Be careful not to over-blend.
GREEN PUFF BALL
STEP 1: Base stippling on bottom area using 1⁄2" oval stip- ple with Dark Mix.
STEP 2: Base stippling on top area using 1⁄2" oval stipple with Light Mix.
STEP 3: Add bright area on the top with 1⁄2" oval stipple of Highlight Mix, and dark area on the bottom with 1⁄2" oval stipple with Low Dark Mix.
STEP 4: Apply bushy lines with 10/0 script liner of High- light Mix and Light Mix.
GREEN BERRIES
STEP 1: Apply Highlight Mix, Light Mix, Medium Mix, Dark Mix and Low Dark Mix with no. 2 flat, blending with 2/0 mop.
STEP2: Add tint of Light and/or Medium Mix to Hydrangea. (Your preference.)
STEP 3: Add the tip of the berry using 10/0 script liner with Low Dark Mix.
VERONICA
STEP 1: Use a 1⁄4" oval stipple with Dark Mix into most of the area.
STEP 2: Use a 1⁄4" oval stipple with Light Mix into a third of the area. Add small petals by double-loading no. 1 flat with Light and Dark Mix.
STEP 3: To add more petals double-load a no. 1 flat with Medium and Low Dark Mix.
STEP 4: Randomly add detail dots with Highlight Mix (2) with 10/0 script liner.
MONDO GRASSES
STEP 1: See the Color Map on page 73. Paint Highlight and Light Mix with no. 0 flat. Add Low Dark Mix.
STEP 2: Blend colors with 2/0 mop. If you want bright- er colors, add more Light and/or Highlight Mix with 10/0 script liner.
STEP 1: Using no. 6 flat, lightly apply Low Dark Mix. STEP 2: Outline the leaf and center vein using no. 6 flat dirty brush with small amount of the Low Dark Mix. STEP 3: Apply accents using nos. 2 and 4 flat with Highlight Mix. Add Light and Dark Mix, to your liking.
RIGHT HYDRANGEA
STEP 1: Stipple Low Dark Mix over the Hydrangea using a 1⁄2" oval stipple brush.
STEP 2: To paint the petals double-load a no. 2 or 4 flat with Light and Dark Mix.
STEP 3: Double-load a no. 2 or 4 flat with Medium and Low Dark Mix to add more petals.
STEP 4: Using nos. 2 and 4 flats, add tint to some of the petals on the top and bottom right with a Left Hydrangea Light Mix.
LEFT HYDRANGEA
STEPS 1–3: Repeat Steps 1-3 of right Hydrangea. (See above.)
STEP 4: Tint with Green Berry Medium Mix.
WHITE EUSTOMA
STEP 1: Wet a no. 8 flat with Lavender Oil then sideload with Light Mix, painting the petals with chisel-edge tech- nique.Ifyoupreferittobemorewhitecolor,repeatthesame step until you get the result you want.
STEP 2: Wet a no. 2 or 6 flat with Lavender Oil and sideload with Dark Mix from the middle to center area of each petal. STEP 3: Add more Dark Mix to the center area with a no. 2 flat.
STEP 4: Add Highlight Mix onto bright area with no. 4 flat. After the petals are painted, add details of pistil and stamen. PISTIL: Sideloadano.4flatwithLightMixandaddHighlight Mix on top of the pistil using a 10/0 liner.
STAMEN: Apply Dark Mix to the stamens using a no. 10/0 script liner, and then adding a small dot of Light Mix on top of the stamens.
WHITE ROSE
STEP 1: To paint the petals sideload a no. 2 flat with Light Mix.
STEP 2: Paint the shadow of the petals with no. 2 flat side- loaded with Dark Mix. Blend the colors with 2/0 mop.
STEP 3: Add center petals with no. 2 flat with Highlight Mix; blend the colors with 2/0 mop. Apply Highlight Mix one more time with no. 2 flat. This will create petal lines.
