World Ozone Day

World Ozone Day, also known as the International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone
Layer, is observed annually on 16th September. This day serves as a reminder of the critical role played by
the ozone layer in safeguarding our planet Earth. The ozone layer, primarily composed of Trioxygen
molecules (O3), acts as a shield against harmful Ultraviolet (UV) rays from the sun.
The Department of Chemistry organized`` WORLD OZONE DAY ’’ on 16.9.2023 in the Electronics
Digital class room to create awareness among the students on the importance of protecting the ozone layer.
In this connection the Department of chemistry conducted competitions like Essay writing, poster
presentation, Elocution for all the students. The students actively participated and gave excellent speeches,
which were well received and appreciated by the faculty and other students. The In-charge of the
Department Smt. K. R. Manjula motivated the students that ``This day is a reminder of the need to protect
the ozone layer’’ and educate the society. Dr. S. Madhavi principal of the college gave message to the
students on plantation and say no to plastic. All The students actively participated and winners were given
first ,second and third prizes. consolation prizes were given for all the students participated in the
competitions. Vote of thanks was given by Smt . M. Nagaparameswari, Lecturer in Chemistry.
