Enhanced Extension Coordination in GBR (EEC) project
The necessary changes to the agricultural land management practices identified under the Reef Plan 2050 will be impossible to achieve without the willing participation of the people who practice land management in the Reef catchments.
Peer-to-peer learning is about building capacity in these producer communities and connecting active community members.
The EEC project improves coordination, collaboration and communication across different producer and extension networks to increase adoption of agricultural land management practices leading to improved water quality.
Seven Regional Extension Coordinators–through partnerships with Cape York NRM, Terrain NRM, NQ Dry Tropics, Reef Catchments, Fitzroy Basin Association and the Burnett Mary Regional Group and Department of Agriculture and Fisheries–have so far delivered 146 local projects including 66 involving producer peer-to-peer learning groups.
