DÉESSE BRA FIT GUIDE
ANATOMY
OF A BRA
1 STRAPS
The main function of the straps is to keep the cups in place. Straps are
meant to give only 10% of the support of the total bra. All our bra straps
are made from fabric with minimal stretch to provide the best support
possible.
2 CUPS
The cup encloses the breasts and defines their shape, angle and amount
of separation between them. Cups also define the silhouette and
amount of lift. They can be padded, molded or cut and sew.
3 GORE
The piece of fabric that connects & stabilizes the cups at the front of the
8 bra. A non-stretch fabric gore offers more support than one made of
stretch fabric.
4 UNDERWIRE & CASING
A flat metal wire sewn into each cup for extra shape and support with
double tipped ends wrapped in Premium quality 3 ply casing for comfort
& to prevent poke through.
5 RINGS & SLIDERS
Metal sliders allow for perfect strap adjustment.
6 BAND OR WINGS
The strip of fabric extending from the cup to the back closure of the
bra. The major support structure of the bra (90% of support), the band
redistributes the weight of the breasts evenly around the ribcage.
7 HOOK & EYE CLOSURE
A row of metal hooks on one side of the band fastens to a row of
semi-circular metal pieces (the eyes) on the other to provide a secure
closure at the back of the bra. They are graded by cup size.
8 SIDE BONING
Plastic boning with rounded edges at the side of the wings helps
stabilize the band.
