The next portion of findings sought to discover what types of professional development employees value the most and their perception of its frequency (is it offered too much or not enough?).
The survey examined 11 types of professional development opportunities. On average, tuition reimbursement for college credit and internal company training were ranked highest, while webinars and coaching from a team member were rated lowest. The following lists them in order from most preferred to less desired:
1. Tuition reimbursement for college credit
2. Internal company training
3. Mentoring programs
4. Multi-day conferences
5. Coaching from boss
6. Online courses
7. One-day conferences
8. Shadowing opportunities
9. Allotment for resources such as publications, subscriptions, books, etc.
10. Coaching from a team member
11. Webinars
