On this episode Co Smitty down w Ward is Olym Si Medalist,
Light Heavyweight and Cruiserweight World Champion. After losing a very close fight to the legendary Thomas
Hearns, Hill went on to win his first title and remained the Light Heavyweight Champion for 5 years. Then after losing to
a nother legend, Roy Jones Jr., Virgil got up again won the Cruiserweight title proving that you can't keep a good man
down. Hill calls North Dakota home and proudly represents an area that is not exactly known for its Boxers.
Virgil and Smitty got in the ring at the international Boxing Hall of Fame and he demonstrated
how having power in both hands gave him an advantage by being able to use his great jab as
lethal weapon
In This Corner premiered on April 1 2004 on the Empire Sports Network broadcasting in Upstate New
York and Nationally on DirecTV and Dish Network. Since that first airing, In This Corner has been on the
air every week and is in its 15th year of featuring one on one interviews and in ring demonstrations with
the biggest names in the sport of Boxing.
There has never been another show that has chronicled the stories of this many World Champions.
