o we know how important the
shipping trade is to all the economies?
DDo we know the lesser known
professionals who run it?

Well, in my humble opinion, much of what
we see around us would not be if not for the
ships and the Seafarers. This is one of the
few industries that is constantly in motion
irrespective of National holidays, festivals,
natural calamities, the Politics of things etc.
The transportation of goods is critical to every
country and economy around the world and
little are people aware of the efforts that go
to magically get medical supplies and goods
to the shelves on the stores, and much more.

Seafarers are the nucleus of the shipping trade and go through an unending list of

perils and sacrifices to keep the global trade on its feet. A Seafarer is a lesser known
professional who quietly but effectively works despite several adversaries. Wonder if
there is any other profession where a professional has to stay away from his or her

family for months in the confines of the vessel, to perform their duties. The intricacies
of the trade are immense, especially catering to all global and local norms while keeping
the oceans and the air clean. Easier said than done but to ensure that all this happens
with a small team of about 20 is a prodigious task.
