Snails:
These cute and fascinating to see creatures can be a nuisance in the garden and in the soil,
These can be easily tackled with the addition of used coffee powder to the soil. Or a weak solution
of vinegar diluted in water or eggshells.
Wash and dry eggshells, crush and sprinkle them around your soil. These not only disintegrate
to provide calcium to your soil but also deter the snails from chomping away tender shoots and
fruits of your plants.
Hairy caterpillars:
They sting so bad and eat up all the leaves.
To get rid of them,
Either make the area attractive to birds, by adding a bird feeder around.
Or hand pick them with a pair of gloves and long tongs and drop them into a pail of soap water
solution.
Or make a mixture of chilli padi and crushed garlic, boil it with 1 ltr water and steep it for 2 days,
filter and spray it on the affected plants.
MILLIPEDES:
Millipedes are harmless to humans, but they do
attack the root ball of the plants when not kept in
check,
They survive on dead leaves and love moisture.
If we keep the pot clear of all the dead leaves and
do not over water the plants, we can get rid of the
millipedes easily.
