I Pray for Th ee…
A tattered mattress
some greasy pans
a few kilos of rice
some worn out pants!
His meagre belongings
piled on his weary head
he agonizingly plods every step!
He staggers for miles
bare blistered feet
his body hungry, dehydrated.
He rests on filthy roadside heaps
on murky rail tracks he drops to sleep!
Strewn like fallen autumn leaves
he’s trampled under ruthless wheels!
A trespasser
on a land that’s as much his
chastised and unwanted
in the cities that he built!
He yearns for his native ville
and trudges ahead tirelessly
to die, or maybe live!
May your soul fi nd
the solace you need
in that restful abode
that you relentlessly seek!
In your eyes hope is still alive I see
of joyous spring and plentiful yield!
Dear Migrant worker, I pray for thee!
I pray for thee....
