Our Founders
Dear frienDs Of OutsiDe the BOwL Debra and Jae Evans
Founders
Most of us just wanted to get through 2020! What a crazy year. Reflecting on 2020, it’s
hard to believe all that God has done through Outside the Bowl this year. Before the
COVID pandemic hit we were celebrating reaching over 24 million - yep 24,000,000 -
hot meals served. Our South Africa instant meal factory was up to 50,000 instant meal
servings a day. On top of that our kitchens in Mexico were each doing about 25,000
school lunches every day and our newest kitchen in Juarez, Mexico was just months away
from opening. THEN EVERYTHING STOPPED. Hot meals stopped due to the COVID
restrictions. Construction stopped. Everything stopped - except our instant meal production
- it went through the roof. We were able to supply ministries in South Africa with a way
to get nourishing meals out to those that due to the COVID lock-down could no longer
provide for their families. As 2020 crept on we were able to barely keep our kitchens open.
We turned most of them into food basket distribution centers where they were able to pack
up enough groceries to provide food for families. But we made it through 2020! AND we
are excited about what we have planned for 2021.
