BUILDING ANCHORS
Building anchors requires some time in personal conversation with an experienced practitioner and a careful application of the technique. In hypnosis, we work in the sphere of the unconscious mind. Here, we utilize both a meditative process, connected to unconscious state and effective language. This connects deeply within to reframe or reconfirm things that will help someone adjust or move forward in a more positive way. Through this process we can help people create, build and lock in personal anchors that can be used effectively in switching individuals to be mindful. Most recently I have been working in creating anchors that enable this switch to be undertaken quickly and effectively.
However, to get you started, here are some examples that you can try, all of which can be undertaken in ten to twenty seconds. Feel free of course to build your own.
Firstly, notice your breathing, taking the time to take some deep breaths, then:
1. Notice one thing around you that you recognize gives you comfort
2. Remember a time when everything was great
3. For a sports person, create an imaginary comedic target that you can aim for
4. Focus on your favourite painting or piece of music
5. Notice the way your body is balanced and weighted
6. Remember your family Christmas tree
7. Remember your first car, make, colour and registration number
8. Notice your notebook and pen.
9. Where would you go for a short break?
10. Introduce your favourite animated character to the current scene
Once your time is over you may notice you are in a calmer more relaxed state of mind finding it easier to be attentive and focused. Be it a speech, a free kick to be taken, a musical solo, an exam, a report. You may even notice that everything is now happening a little slower.
