DEDICATION

This study guide is dedicated to you--the person deciding to use this guide. For
so many years I have tried to find materials to teach new technicians the rules the
state passes down for all of us to follow, and present it in a way that the student
wouldn’t fall asleep. I also had a hard time outlining what I had read so as to make
it easy to review. With you in mind we have developed this study guide combining
many factors of the business. We have outlined it for you for easy review, splitting
it up between laws and all the other aspects of the business which you will need to
understand. We also designed it to be used as a reference book that you can carry
with you, as it has many aspects of identification for the common insects you will
come across. This is not intended to be an all-encompassing book, but I wish I
could have found all of this information in one place when I took the exam over
forty years ago. It is now even more difficult!

The one individual responsible for my everlasting excitement in learning about
insects is Norman Ehmann. Norm fueled my desire to learn back in 1967, and to
this day, I am continually fascinated by this fulfilling and challenging profession.
My desire is that this study guide will carry on Norm Ehmann’s tradition and fuel
your desire to learn.
