City of Knowledge Academy Ijebu-Ode just ended its 8th school year.
It is a full boarding co-educational school and runs a harmonized Nigerian/British curriculum offering the IGCSE
examinations and the West African School Certificate examinations.
The school’s vision is ‘to nurture confident and cultured global leaders of proven character deploying innovative
techniques unrivaled anywhere in the world.’ This is further reinforced by the school’s 3 ethical pillars Culture
Character Confidence. The ISA journey is helping in no small way to make the vision become a reality. In addition the
ISA journey helps us work out the CKA Mission statement: Refining our learners in a caring and stimulating
environment; continuously inspiring creativity through critical thinking; developing leadership skills and raising
leaders for global impact by deploying the latest innovations in teaching and learning
We knew from the onset in September 2019 that we would need a focused, hardworking and organised teacher to
facilitate the ISA journey in ISA. Mrs. Funmi Juba was chosen to be the ISA Coordinator as she has demonstrated over
time the ability to lead and get things done. All members of staff were then allocated to work in the various groups the
students had been divided into. The heads of the groups then formed the ISA Committee. Each group’s activity was
linked to various Sustainable Development Goals. The entire community has been able to highlight the sustainability of
their activities and the benefits on a global dimension.
The initial task each group accomplished was identification of what they wanted to work on. The groups are:
          1. Living things against disease vectors: using scientific inquiry to solve a life threating issue – SDG 3 (Good health &
wellbeing), SDG 9 ( Industry, Innovation, Infrastructure), SDG 17 ( Partnerships to achieve the Goal)
          2. One language, one world: using literacy skills (both written & vocal), performing arts skills & art/design skills to
unite the world – SDG 8 (Decent work & economic growth), SDG 10 ( Reduced inequality) SDG 16 ( Peace & Justice,
        strong institutions )
          3. My peace, my culture: concern for world peace and relating it to the Nigerian culture – SDG 5 ( Gender Equality),
        SDG 10 ( Reduced inequality ), SDG 16 (Peace& Justice, strong institutions )
          4. My food and I, today and tomorrow: concern: the long term effects of human nutrition – SDG 1 ( No poverty ), SDG 2
        ( Zero hunger ), SDG 3 ( Good health & wellbeing ) SDG 13 ( Climate action)
