RELATIVES
I had an Uncle Alf,
father’s elder brother who
lived in Horsforth and
worked as the golf
professional at the local
club.
When he retired he was
The Professional at Moor
Allerton Club to the north
of Leeds and was
succeeded by World Class
golfer Peter Allis.

Like the rest of our
family, he was kept at
arm’s length and it was
only as I became more
independent that I began to catch up with our widespread
relations.

Most were on my father’s side of the family, they included
father’s sister Peggy and her husband who lived and worked in
