Baynes, originating from Bayeux, was the name used by
Grandmother’s great Uncle but had been Bayne for those
families actually still living in that beautiful Yorkshire dale.
Once they left the Dale, so the book tells, then they should
take the name Baynes. There is another variation, Baines, still in
use today by some remaining ancestors.

Just like many families, our branch of the Bayne ‘clan’ now
have nothing left of those vast wealths originally bequeathed to
            them by Duke William.
Grandmother had a little money, my mother soon saw it was
put to ‘good use’, and then there was none! I am constantly
delighted and relieved that one thing my Grandmother did leave
to me is the ability to live on ones wits. I was never academically
inclined and left Boston Grammar School in 1960 with no
            examination passes whatever.
Nevertheless I do not regret anything I have done in my life
and thank GOD truly for all the excellent and valuable qualities
given to me by my ancestors.
