“Of course not,” replied Ebony. “Owls
are our friends … just like most of the other
animals that live in the countryside.” Sammy
settled down again for a little while.
When the moon went in and the daylight
began to appear for the new day, Sammy
was on his feet again. “Oh dear, oh dear,”
he said. “It's those other noises I don't like
now.”
On the farm were lots and lots of
cackley hens, cluck, cluck, clucking.... lots of
cheepy, cheepy, chicks... cheep, cheep,
cheeping and lots and lots of cockerels …
crow, crow, crowing.
“It's those noisy ones I don't like … all
the crow, crow, crowing so early in the
morning,” said Sammy in a strained sort of
voice.
