... that is one of those small hairy horses
that worked in the hills of Yorkshire for
hundreds of years. They are very strong and
normally black or very dark brown in colour.
His father had been a strong heavy
horse. Jupiter had never met his father, so
did not really know what he looked like. His
mother ... Juno … once told him though,
that his father had been from Scotland!
Jupiter was taller than his mother, with
longer, white very hairy legs. He was very
strong too and often worked on the farm
pulling different kinds of machinery.
The other horse on the farm was called
Hebe, a Dales Pony just like Jupiter's
mother. She was black all over and told
Sammy that she had lived in the hills of
Yorkshire, in the North of England all her life
until coming to this farm three years before.
Hebe had a wedding carriage; her's
was black with a red roof ….. she went out
with it more when the weather was not so
good!
