CHAPTER TWENTY NINE
“THE ROMAN SOLDIER”
Speaking to daughter Helen by e mail the other day, I mentioned, “did I ever tell her about
the Roman Soldier at York”?
“No”, she said so even though I thought I had written this story before....here we go again.
Sometime in the 1990's, Ruth and I took a short break in York...very short...just one night!
Despite this, it was most eventful. We had pre booked to stay at a farmhouse b and b on
the road into York from Goole. “Crockey Hill Farm” was our choice and as far as I
remember all was excellent.
It was during the night when problems began. We had toured around York during the day,
not having been for several years, things had changed somewhat but all very enjoyable.
I am “switched on to ghosts”, I can enter certain houses and will not pass the door step, for
feelings of dread and bad things that overcome me.
At our second family home in New Bolingbroke I had nightmares from time to time and
Ivy House New Bolingbroke, our previous home.
