12 Vehicle Servicing
• Servicing is carried out on site to manufacturers recommendations or at an
approved service centre.
• Service intervals – 6 weekly.
• The Transport/Fleet Manager is responsible for scheduling services, 6 weekly
inspections and MOT dates.
• The Transport/Fleet Manager is liaising with drivers and service providers daily to
ensure that the fleet is running efficiently.
13 Breakdowns
If you break down or develop a fault on the highway, stop the vehicle at the earliest safe
opportunity and location. Put your hazard lights on and sidelights if conditions are dark or wet.
Unless you are in a suitable stopping point well away from the road, do not stay in the vehicle.
Make sure you get out of the vehicle in a safe way, ensuring the road around you is clear.
Wear your full High Visibility PPE so that you can easily be seen.
If you break down on a motorway, to ensure the safety of yourself and passengers, you should
vacate the vehicle from the nearside cab door and stand away from the vehicle on the verge
where it is safe to do so.
Contact your Transport/Fleet Manager to arrange suitable recovery, please ensure that they
have your mobile telephone number so you can be contacted away from the vehicle if required.
Leave your side lights on if possible and use hazard lights and beacons to draw attention to
your stationary vehicle, do not put yourself in danger. Ensure you and any passengers are
wearing high visibility clothing when you exit the vehicle.
If you are a lone female, we request that you advise the recovery service of this when reporting
the breakdown.
