The plate or sticker may also show a gross train weight (GTW), also sometimes called gross
combination weight (GCW). This is the total weight of the tractor unit plus trailer plus load.
Be careful not to mix up the Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) with the Gross Train
Weight (GTW). The GVW is the maximum permitted weight of the vehicle (plus any load
it is carrying), while the GTW is the maximum permitted weight of the vehicle plus any
trailer being towed.
Local available Weighbridges
You can check your vehicle weight at any public weighbridge in your operating area, please
speak to your Transport Manager for more information.
15 Lorry Modifications to Tractor Unit or Trailer
Any modifications to either the tractor unit or trailer can only be made with the permission
of either Mike, Adam or Gemma Battye. Any irreversible damage caused by modifications
to either the tractor unit or trailer without written permission from the Directors may invoke
the disciplinary process being used against you.
Any costs to rectify any damage caused may also be sought to be recovered from you.
We want you to look after and take pride in your vehicle and we will work with you to
achieve this.
16 Parking in Lorry Parks or Ferry Ports
Given the busy nature of Lorry Parks and Ferry Ports and their often lack of space please
do not assume that you have been seen by other drivers moving their vehicles.
Do not turn your back on any vehicle unless on a dedicated protected walkway.
Wear your high vis vest or jacket to help maintain your visibility to other drivers.
