19 My Space
What is ‘My Space’? It is the imaginary area around you and your vehicle of which you are in
control.
How My Space Works
Always carry out a one-two minute mental and visual risk assessment upon arrival to site
As a driver imagine a safety zone around your vehicle which you can control,
This is your MY SPACE so now consider the following:
1. What do I need to do inside MY SPACE
Will the ground
2. What or who could intrude into MY SPACE conditions take the
weight of my vehicle?
3. How could I be hurt?
4. What do I need to do about it?
5. What happens when I leave MY SPACE?
6. How can I control low risk areas?
Consider how you the individual can manage the risks and if the risk is too high and it is
unsafe for you to deliver, inform your immediate supervisor or manager and await further
instructions.
Report any issues to your manager
