A MAN WHO'S AFRAID TO LOSE ME
by Pauline Bugarin
I waited outside the restaurant for how many minutes where Mark and I will meet before I finally
entered to look for a vacant seat.
"Sorry, babe. Did I make you wait long?" he asked while sitting near my spot.
I was looking at him all the way, his brown eyes, perfect eyelashes, and jawline---he's perfect. I don’t
even know why he chooses me out of so many people. Between me and him, he’s always the one who
understands my mood swings. He always extends his patience to understand and accept my
imperfections. I don’t even know what I did in my past life to deserve a man like him.
"No, I just arrived too". I respond.
We both seat. After a while, he proceeds to the counter to order a meal for us. After Mark orders our
meal, there are a few minutes of silence between the both of us. I don’t know but I feel something
different while I'm looking straight into his eyes.
"Is there a problem?" I ask
He just gave me a fake smile.
"N-nothing". He answered back.
I ate my meal and after a few seconds, he spoke.
"Luna." I immediately looked in his direction when he called my name.
