many of the Puranas and sacred epics like Mahabharata etc.

The outstanding life, splendid character and stunning compositions of Markandeya Rishi stand
as tall as the light house to the humanity forever. Markandeya was blessed by Lord Vishnu, Lord
Shiva and Devi Parvati, and hence he is adored and worshipped amongst the Vaishnavas,
Shaivas and Shaktas equally. He is even said to have attended the wedding ceremony of Lord
Rama and Devi Sita. His life is a roaring declaration to all seekers of Truth that man is not meant
to die as man but he is meant to evolve as sage and realize the State beyond death!

This Rishi's character gives a clarion call to all people that one should not allow oneself to be
depressed, degraded and devastated; rather one should get up, take big resolutions, do intense
tapas, please the Lord and kiss the pinnacle of perfection. May our prostrations offered to this
hero of humanity and ocean of devotion ignite the spark of hidden divinity and make us
Mrityunjaya (conqueror of death)!
