THE FUNCTION AND PROCESS OF EDUCATION

Basically, all education is a progression from discovery of information to some level of comprehension and
application.
The most valuable and most useful education is that which develops within us the “knowledge of God” with
having the “mind of Christ”!

 “For this reason we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to ask that you
may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding;
that you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work
and increasing in the knowledge of God;” Colossians 1:9-10 (NKJV)

 But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him;
nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
But he who is spiritual judges all things, yet he himself is rightly judged by no one.
For "who has known the mind of the LORD that he may instruct Him?"
But we have the mind of Christ. 1 Corinthians 2:14-16 (NKJV)
Proverbs 9:10 says, “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.” So, a proper recognition and
respect for God is the first step of education.

A wise man can render a reason for all he does, but a fool is smug in his thoughtlessness. A wise man will
increase in wisdom, but a fool is closed-minded.
EDIFICATION versus EDUCATION

T.H.B.I. desires that our students gain more than the mere acquisition of information (secular

education) and enter the realm of EDIFICATION! Edification is, if you will, SPIRITUAL
ENLIGHTENMENT or, education accomplished by the work of the Holy Spirit!

Edification results in the student gaining correct or true understanding of the information acquired!
You can gain vast knowledge or wisdom, yet without understanding the benefits are quite limited!
 To know wisdom and instruction, To perceive the words of understanding,
To receive the instruction of wisdom, Justice, judgment, and equity;
To give prudence to the simple, To the young man knowledge and discretion--
A wise man will hear and increase learning, And a man of understanding will attain wise counsel,
To understand a proverb and an enigma, The words of the wise and their riddles.
The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, But fools despise wisdom and instruction.
Proverbs 1:2-7 (NKJV)
 Get wisdom! Get understanding! Do not forget, nor turn away from the words of my mouth.
Do not forsake her, and she will preserve you; Love her, and she will keep you.
Wisdom is the principal thing;
Therefore get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding.
Proverbs 4:5-7 (NKJV)
