Formula for "Winning Teams" - Above the Line
Departments must be united in a shared vision that advances the whole rather than the
Individual.
You want your people and departments to compete, not compare, and also understand
that they do not win by tearing down someone else.
Encourage employees to play his or her role and have a symbiotic relationship with one
another so all team members perform at their highest potential.
A great leader is able to create a mission that is bigger than self interest.
The way to build a sense of shared mission is through communicating it and by passing
on responsibility – so they have ownership in the results of their efforts.
A highly functioning team has the right people on board; get the wrong people off the
bus immediately.
Recruit people who have a good dose of humility in addition to the skills required for the
job.
Make sure your people have a strong skill sets who work well together. Successful people
strive to make each other look better.
Create an environment in which people feel important.
A leader creates an environment and functions like a thermostat, not as a thermometer.
Be willing to change the temperature (don't be afraid to turn up the heat) in the best
interest of the company (when required).
If you want your people to work hard, be willing to lead by example.
Be a "Hero Maker" with your respective teams….
