Happy New Year!
This year we celebrate the 124th year the Texas Police Association is in existence. TPA’s long
history demonstrates the perseverance to remain relevant in the midst of societal, economical, and
policing changes. Even though this is our 124th year, we are having our 120th Annual Conference,
there were a few years during the world wars that the conference was not held. However,
organizations must remain relevant in today’s climate in order to survive and succeed. This year’s
theme, “TPA NOW” is directly connected with the idea of being action oriented. In many of our
lives procrastination, and waiting for someone else to do something, are great barriers to success
and could impede the ability to survive. Therefore, rather than wait to get involve in TPA’s success,
know that the time is NOW. Get involved by recruiting other members, not only from the police
services but also businesses and law-abiding citizens. Get involved in TPA’s leadership by
contacting TPA via email, or social media and simply ask, how you could serve others through this
association? Get involved by teaching, if you are a subject matter expert with experience contact
TPA via email or social media with your resume or curriculum vitae. The Texas Police Association
is the best venue to reaches every level and type of police agencies and their supporters in Texas.
TPA’s development of educational and specialized training for law enforcement is at the core of
our current initiative. In addition, the creation of relevant classes and courses for businesses and
citizens will expand our offering to support our purpose of a safe Texas.
The 120th Annual Training Conference will occur in Longview, Texas on June 24, 25, and 26th,
2019. The opening ceremonies will begin at 8:00 a.m. (0800 hrs) on June 25, 2019. The
conference provides unparalleled opportunities as it will feature quality speakers, education,
training, and opportunities to engage with sponsors and vendors. In addition, the conference
creates an opportunity to share knowledge with your peers, become a mentor, find a mentor, listen
to international speakers, learn about the future of the policing profession, and how to be an
effective leader. Additionally, attendees will be exposed to profound perspectives from federal,
military, state, and private organizations. To ensure your presence in the 120th TPA Annual
Training Conference register now!
