While at Coppell, Mac forged a culture of service for citizens, employees, and the
community more broadly. Many consider him to be a reform-minded law enforcement
executive. Among the many changes Mac instituted in Coppell, the closing of the city’s
jail operation, the establishment of a new combined dispatch center, and implementing
new innovative practices in hiring, training and policing greatly contributed to Mac’s
recognition as a servant-leader.
Mac received his bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Sam Houston State University,
where he graduated with honors. He is also a graduate of the FBI National Academy. Since
retiring, Mac continues to lecture on Problem Oriented Policing, Changing Organizational
Culture and the Servant Leadership style of management to police organizations and
corporations throughout the country. Mac has lectured internationally with the Chinese
and Swedish National Police.
Established in 1964 by its namesake, Robert K. Greenleaf, the Greenleaf Center is a non-
profit organization working to promote the awareness, understanding and practice of
servant leadership. Through his seminal 1970 essay, The Servant as Leader, Greenleaf
launched the modern movement of servant leadership, challenging the traditional
hierarchical approach to leadership by placing the primary emphasis on the well-being of
others. Since 2019, the Center has been housed on the South Orange, New Jersey campus
of Seton Hall University. Greenleaf maintains its independence and 501(c)(3) status, while
benefiting from the University’s rich tradition of service and preparing students to be
leaders in a global society. The Center's signature programs include the Greenleaf Online
Academy, Greenleaf Research Scholars, the Coffee With Webinar Series, Next Generation
Initiative and Robert K. Greenleaf Public Policy Lecture. More information is available at

The Texas Police Association is a generous sponsor of the Center’s 2023 Hall of Fame.
Reginald Lewis is the Center’s Executive Director.
