SPECIAL NOTICE - #3255 TRAINING
Dear Colleague:
The Texas Police Association will sponsor a nine (9) hour seminar on the "State Asset
Forfeiture Act" at the Double Tree Hotel in Austin on Monday and Tuesday, November 30
– December 1, 2015.
This course, which is designed for law enforcement personnel and prosecuting attorneys
concerned with asset forfeiture, will include legislation enacted by the Eighty-Second
Texas Legislature and the most current federal statutes and their application.
The seminar will begin at 12:00 p.m. Noon on Monday, November 30 and conclude at
5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 1. Registration will open at 11:30 a.m. on Monday,
November 30. Lunch will be provided for all seminar attendees at the hotel on Tuesday,
December 1. Coffee and soft drinks will be provided during the breaks.
The presentation will be by Mr. John C. West, Jr., General Counsel, Office of the
Inspector General, Texas Board of Criminal Justice. Other highly qualified specialists
will join Mr. West. Topics to be discussed include: An In-depth Analysis of State &
Federal Asset Seizure and Forfeiture; Comparison of Preceding Law; Sharing of Forfeited
Assets; Use of Forfeited Assets; Management of Seized Assets; Practical Application;
Prosecutor's Views; Latest Developments in Asset Forfeiture Laws; Recent Court
Decisions; Report Filing; and A Review of Sample Forms. A copy of the Act and other
related materials will be provided to each registrant.
The registration fee which must accompany each registration form is $295.00 per person,
payable to the Texas Police Association. Late registration (after November 7, 2015) is
$345.00 per person. THERE WILL BE NO REFUNDS; HOWEVER, REPLACEMENTS ARE
WELCOME.
