What are you involved in at the school?
I’m in the hockey first team. It’s something I really worked for. I was in the second team last year so was really hoping to make the step up. I started off in the second team again and then gradually built up. I’m really proud about that. The drive within me wanted to get there. It’s nice to feel I earned my place.
The second team was great and a lot of fun but I wanted to see what it would be like to play at a more serious level. I’ve learnt from others – from playing against other good schools. The first team get their heads together like little fire ants. They just go for it. It’s taught me that if I want to get somewhere I can work hard and get there. It’s tiring but it drives me to do things.
Sport definitely helps me. It’s helped me to do better academically too. Being able to get out there, get some fresh air and then get down to the academic again.
Do you do a Purple Time activity?
For Purple Time, I do Biomedical Science – it helps me understand stats better. There are lots of activities to do. Things like gym and Zumba. There will be more opportunities in the future too.

You are a keen rugby player, why do you think you can do other things as well at Seaford?
Other schools perhaps expect you to be good at only one thing and therefore you focus and train for that. Whereas the culture at Seaford encourages you to go and speak to the Year 2 students (as Peer Mentor), join the choir, have a go at whatever is available. We have first team rugby players in the Chapel Choir and we perform in the productions and musicals.
What do you get out of doing all those different things?
Fulfilment, purpose and a sense of giving back to the community. I feel privileged to run out onto the rugby pitch, attend a Prep School lesson and be accepted for who I am. You know the difference you can make and everyone should look back on their time at Seaford and think “what did I do to make it a better place whilst I was there”?
Do you do any Purple Time activities?
I’m in the Chapel Choir and I do Biology drop-in sessions.
What do you do in your down time?
Go to the gym, watch History documentaries on my laptop, I enjoy relaxing with friends. We use the Year 9&10 Common Room in the evening, we sit outside and socialise.

What else do you do at Seaford?
I’m very sporty, I have a go at hockey and I’m in the 2nd team. I like netball, I’m currently training for the Nationals. This morning I woke up at 6.30am to do practice club until 7.30am. I love the sport at Seaford – it’s amazing. The sport and academic side of the school is always evolving so you have to keep up! I enjoy it so much.
Last year, when I had more time, I joined the BioMedic Club for a while. I met some really interesting people.
What are you really passionate about?
Lots of us are passionate about equality for women as a whole, not just in the work place. I like to join in the discussion, sport is getting better, but you still get only big crowds at men’s football. You wouldn’t have known that the Women’s World Cup was on this year! When I was at the hospital (on our Community Action Day) nearly all the doctors on the ward were women, which I found to be really motivational.
