Summary of Programme for Year 9:
Students will begin the IGCSE curriculum in Year 9. A three-year course allows much greater depth of study and provides time to develop the necessary skills and experience as well as developing a love of reading and writing. Students will spend the year becoming familiar with the IGCSE anthology, studying a range of non-fiction excerpts and honing their writing skills. They will study both ‘Of Mice and Men’ and ‘Macbeth’, will develop their imaginative writing and essay writing skills and will practise responding to texts under examination conditions.

We will be starting on the full IGCSE course in Year 9 in order to cover key concepts.

Summary of Programme for Year 9:
Students deepen their knowledge of their chosen language, practising comprehension skills with listening and reading exercises. Through completing speaking and writing tasks, grammar is practised and extended and vocabulary used in context. We also work more with translation into both the foreign language and into English. As we cover familiar topics e.g. holidays and leisure, different and more complex structures are introduced. We use online resources to help learn vocabulary and to develop more independent study. When learning a language, there is always an element of culture and we study a film and get a taster of music and literature as well as learning about festivals and famous people.
