Overview
Media is relevant to everyone’s life: our world is saturated by
TV, film, advertising, news etc, as the media arguably play an
increasingly influential role in society. On this course, we learn
the practical skills of media production and also investigate
social and ethical issues such as the representation of gender,
the myths created by advertising, and the influence of social
media in political news.
Equivalent to one A Level, this programme of study combines
critical analysis, creativity and digital media production.
Students learn a range of creative and technical skills
including photography, scriptwriting, layout, storyboarding,
videography and editing. There is a focus on industry equivalent
standards, and students are encouraged to view their work
from professional perspectives. The course is made up of six
equal units, all of which are assessed internally as extended
coursework projects.
