Eco-Schools
It is official from two awarding bodies: Seaford is truly an eco-school. This term, we were awarded the Eco-Schools UK Green Flag award (with Distinction) and won the Green Award for Environmental Achievement category at the Independent Schools of the Year Awards 2022.
In addition, this term saw Seaford’s inaugural Green Week which took place in lessons and across campus giving students, staff and parents an opportunity to get involved and make a difference. As part of this, many departments included a focus on environmental and sustainability issues in their subjects.
Our Green Week was planned to coincide with the COP27 Climate Conference that the students learnt about through a whole school assembly presented by staff and students. Specialist outside speakers came to the College and presented topical subject matter to year groups. The week finished with
a green non-uniform Friday with donations given to two environmental charities - WaterAid and Sussex Woodland Trust.
Our three eco-councils continue to build on achievements from last year with their themes this year being:
• Prep School – School grounds
• Middle School – Waste and water • Sixth Form – Global Citizenship
