Student Support Services Sixth Form
We are in the Sixth Form Centre just off the
café, and we support Sixth Form students in
a variety of ways:
•
•
•
Academic mentoring
Pastoral support and link to No. 46
Liaison between students and their tutors
and teachers
•
•
•
•
Supervision of work room and cafe areas
Oversee use of cars and driving policy
Prefect support and parental tour link-ups
Supporting Heads of Year 12 and 13 and the
Director of Sixth Form in the management
of the Sixth Form
We encourage students to be as self-
sufficient as possible, but we do guide them,
help them and indeed cajole them to work
hard and get the best from their Sixth Form
life. We encourage them to call by for a chat
when one is needed, and our door is always
open.
Angela Loten
Head of Careers
There is a lot of focus in the Sixth Form on university applications. Not
everyone wants to go down this route, and this is where I’m available to
discuss careers paths. Apprenticeships are increasingly popular as well
as joining a company training scheme. We hold Careers Teas, where
speakers come to talk about what they do and how they got there. There
are also regular careers newsletters with links to opportunities and useful
information. An Alumni mentor database is gradually growing so that
students can ask any questions they might have of someone in the know. I
work closely with the Sixth Form team, offering extensive careers advice to
students.
