What do you like about sport at
Seaford?
Sport has really developed at
Seaford and the coaching is
amazing. I like being part of a
successful team. I’m in the first
teams for both hockey and
netball. I played up in the first
teams when I was younger and
it was a great experience, the
older students welcomed and
supported me. When I’ve had
an injury, the staff have worked
with me to get my body back on
track and they understand my
frustration about not being able
to play, but they stay firm and tell
me I need to recover fully. I may
not like hearing that, but I know
it’s good advice and I do listen. I
love helping with the Prep School
Sports Day and Cross Country,
and the younger students love
having a Sixth Former there.
Do you do anything outside of
school?
I have sport on Saturday and I
have family time on Sunday. I get
my prep done during my private
study time so I have time for
socialising with my family at the
weekend. I also spend a lot of time
with my polo training and horses,
it’s very time consuming but it’s
my passion.

What do you do outside of
the classroom
I can be found in the dance
studio or in drama. I love taking
part in the dance shows and
productions. I have extra dance
classes to focus on what I need to
improve. This compliments my
training outside of school and the
coaches work together which is
great.
What have you gained from
Seaford?
Confidence, determination and
resilience. It’s taught me that
you have to work to achieve
your goals. I learnt never to give
up. Student welfare is at the
forefront of Seaford. I know that
if I had a problem, I could go
to No.46 (Seaford’s wellbeing
centre) even though I’ve never
used it. You know you’d be
looked after and would have
someone to talk to.
“We’re very proud of Matthew, and Seaford has allowed
him to be who he wants to be. We knew he wasn’t going
to be pop star, but he might be on stage or play the drums.
The Headmaster, Mr Green, and the teachers have been
very understanding and flexible about the route Matthew
has taken with social media and have guided him. And
it’s not hindered his results at all. Matthew is now even
making commercial videos for my company. Seaford has
helped shape Matthew into the person he is today, and we
are very grateful for that.”

What do you do outside of
the classroom?
I started playing golf in Year 12
when I got here, I didn’t think it
would be something that I’d do
but I love it. I’m also a prefect and
enjoy my duties and doing school
tours.
I’m a member of the Eco-
Committee, it’s really interesting.
We look at how we can make the
school more eco-friendly. With
climate change, I think that’s
really important. We looked at
a series of topics and we went
down the list and discussed what
we could improve. We had a
focus on food, and Seaford now
buys more Fairtrade products, so
that was really good.
I like the fact that Seaford
has gained The Independent
Schools of the Year Award for
Environmental Achievement
and the Eco-Schools Green Flag
award with distinction. I’m proud
to study at a school that has so
many green initiatives.

What do you do outside of the
classroom?
I have enjoyed Chess Club
and being part of the School
Council. I also like using the gym,
something I have discovered
here. It may sound simple but I
just enjoy spending time in the
beautiful grounds and going for
a walk.
