DARVIX- 2020-2021 at

DARVIX (Data Analytics, Research & Visualisation at XLRI), aims to share and foster
knowledge about the relevance of analytics, and its applications among future
managers, by keeping them abreast of trends and happenings across industries
through inputs from faculty, academia, and industry experts.
LAUNCH EVENTS
With the support of our faculty mentor, Prof. Girdhar Ramachandran (Associate
Professor, XLRI), DARVIX was formed on 7th September 2020. The official launch
event of DARVIX 'Decoding Analytics' was conducted soon after to give students 36
glimpses into the field of analytics. The event witnessed an enriching panel
discussion on the emerging utility of analytics with our esteemed panelists Dipayan
Chakraborty (Head of Analytics and Business Intelligence, Myntra) and Anurag
Gupta (Senior Manager, Flipkart).
Data Analytics Case Competition' was launched for XLers, which saw 57 teams
participating, followed by a session on 'Data Storytelling' by Jeff Neiman (Data
Scientist at Ford Motor Company), where the participants had a chance to learn
from the vast experience of Mr. Neiman.
ANALYTICS DESK
On 13th November 2020, DARVIX launched ANALYTICS DESK. This multi-event 48
series comprises talks on topics like People Analytics, IoT-led Analytics, and events
like Vizardry – A Data Visualization Case Competition. In the first event of Analytics
Desk, DARVIX had organized a session on People Analytics by industry experts and
our esteemed Alumni, Raman SR (HRBP, SAP). The students came out with a
plethora of new insights and more understanding about the domain of People
Analytics thanks to the rich experience brought on the table by Raman.
The second chapter of Analytics Desk saw the launch of the Data Visualization
competition – “Vizardry”. This required participants to use Excel and Power BI to
develop findings and interactively present them. In the third event and the most
recent one, we had Mr. Arnendu Bose (Managing Director, Accenture Strategy)
deep dive into the world of IoT-led Analytics. The event saw discussions around
Industry X.0 and how it is evolving into an outcome-based economy, and IoT-led
Analytics is the central cog in it. The session helped students gain valuable
knowledge about the recent happenings in the industry.
NATIONAL ANALYTICS CASE COMPETITION
In collaboration with Tata IQ, DARVIX conducted the first-ever Data analytics case
competition on a national level. The event achieved grand success with 533
registrations from students participating in 267 teams across more than 60
B-Schools in India. The students competed in an Analytics quiz, followed by the
shortlisted teams making it to the case competition. In the final round the top team
presenting their work to the esteemed panel of judges. The winners were
announced with much gusto.
To keep up the interest in analytics DARVIX regularly engages its followers through
informative posts about the field of Analytics on its social media pages. DARVIX has
embarked on this journey with the aim to develop budding managers who can
narrate insightful stories through data. We have ignited the spark, and we look
forward to an exciting journey of learning. Our motto is
'In God we trust, others must bring Data!'
