2015 Homecoming Reunion
The Pledge Class of 1980, following up on our hugely successful 30-year
reunion, held a 35-year reunion at Homecoming. We were joined by many of our
contemporaries from the Pledge Classes of ’81 and ’82, plus a few “really old”
brothers. The weekend was a ton of fun and once again it was amazing to see the
number of brothers who traveled a long way to be there. Special kudos should go
to Rob Henderson ’85 who once again made the trip all the way from Australia.
The weekend started off with a Thursday round of golf at Echelon, with a
15-man skins game won by Jeff Jenkins ’85 (yes, there were very generous
handicaps involved). That night we enjoyed a dinner hosted by Jim Licata
’83 and his very forgiving wife Maria. Barbeque, beer, jet and shots off a snow
ski…what more could you ask for? Friday we ventured out for another round
of golf at the “scene of the crime,” Bobby Jones golf course. Fortunately none
of us were recognized from our last outing there in 1984, so there was a much
better outcome – which did not involve the APD – this time.
Friday night we had the annual pre-Homecoming alumni gathering, which
was held at Fado’s Irish Pub in Buckhead. Despite our advanced ages, and the
prior two days, most of us made it out for another good time. There was even
a small contingent of brothers and one wife (you rock, JP!) who made a late-
night trek to the Clermont Lounge.The weekend was capped off by the amazing
Tailgate on the lawn of the house, and the incredible finish to the Florida State
game. A perfect ending to a memorable weekend of brotherhood. Hopefully
everyone is resting up for our 40-year reunion in 2020.

The ever-growing pregame activity at the house had another great year. We
now have dueling alumni tailgates, with the old farts on the south end and the
younger set on the north end. We do this before each game and have had a
tremendous turn out and lots of out-of-towners participating. Join in by contacting: lovebirds!

Annual Theta Chi Camping Trip
The 36th edition is in the books and fun was had by all. We had a nice turnout
despite threats of rain. The old dogs learned some new tricks and brought miles of
tarps that were hung over the site to keep us dry. The addition of bales of straw helped
to keep the mud down.

The Tachi Classic
The 34th annual Golf Tournament, The Tachi Classic, was played on August 1,
2015. We had 29 Brothers playing this year. Great day for golf with mild temps and
no rain. The Red Jacket went to Sunny Tummala ’97 shooting a 72 from the silver
division. The gold went to Chad Parmelee ’99 with a 75, while the Black went to
Bill “Cosine” Persyn ’86 with an 80. Pretty good golf this year. Sunny nailed the
Long Drive while the Closest to the Pins went to Mike Space ’97 and Stan Thomas
’81. The event raised over $4200 for the house maintenance fund. We would like
to thank our lead sponsor Steve Urvan ’89: GunBroker.com for their continued
support and all the brothers making donations. Special thanks to Janice Wittschiebe
for her kind donation, to support the cause, in memory of Bruce Wittschiebe ’78.
