Employee Handbook
Acknowledgment Form
I acknowledge that I have received a copy of the Society’s Employee Handbook. I understand
that this Handbook replaces any previous Employee Handbooks issued by the Chicago Zoological
Society and that updates are periodically posted on the Society’s intranet, which is available to all
staff. I understand it is my responsibility to read the Employee Handbook and to discuss with my
supervisor, manager, or the Human Resources Department if there is anything in the Handbook
I do not understand.
I know that I am expected to comply with requirements and expectations outlined in the
Handbook, as well as Society policies, and that, subject to any applicable collective bargaining
agreement, failure to comply may result in disciplinary action. I understand that if I am a union
employee and if there are provisions of the collective bargaining agreement that differ from the
provisions of this Handbook, the collective bargaining agreement applies.
The provisions of this Employee Handbook and other Society policies, procedures, and state-
ments are not intended to create and do not create any contractual rights of any kind, other than
those outlined in a collective bargaining agreement, if applicable. No implied contract concerning
any terms or conditions of my employment can be established by the Employee Handbook.
Subject to the applicable collective bargaining agreement, the Society reserves the right in its
discretion to change, revoke, suspend, terminate, or deviate from this Handbook or Society policies
and procedures, in whole or in part, at any time, with or without cause and with or without notice.
The interpretation, application, and administration of all Society policies and procedures, includ-
ing information in this Employee Handbook, rests with the Society, unless specific provisions have
been separately negotiated as part of a collective bargaining agreement.
I understand that no representative of the Society, other than its President/CEO, has the au-
thority to enter into any agreement contrary to the Society’s at-will employment policy. Only the
Society’s President/CEO can enter into an agreement to employ an employee for any defined period
of time, and no employment agreement is valid or enforceable unless it is in writing and signed by
the President/CEO.
