Andreas, Bennie y yo fuimos hoy a la oficina de correos para enviar finalmente el sobre
a Máx en Chile. El empleado, de manera bastante grosera, le indicó a Andreas que
que no está permitido filmar en la oficina de correos. Andreas bajó su teléfono móvil y, sor-prendido, le pregunté por qué no. Sólo para escuchar que no está permitido, así que pre-gunté por el motivo y recibí la respuesta VERBOTEN sin más explicaciones, que
venía acom-pañada de un fuerte olor a una Alemania / Austria de hace 80 años. Presenté el sobre. El empleado me preguntó qué había en él y le contesté “papel”. De forma muy grosera, le dijo a Andreas que debía darle
al empleado su teléfono móvil, ya que tenía que comprobar lo que había filmado. Andreas se negó, diciendo que había borrado el
vídeo y que era una pe-tición que excedía la autoridad del empleado.
El empleado amenazó con llamar a la
policía. Andreas respondió que por favor
lo hiciera. Aparecieron tres guardias de seguridad privados, que pidieron a Andreas que se quedara en su sitio y mostrara su identificación. Andreas se negó, ya que
pedir la identificación no está dentro de
los derechos de los guardias de seguridad
en Austria. Acordamos que An-dreas esperaría con Bennie delante de la oficina
de correos, mientras yo esperaba en la cola para enviar la carta. Poco después, mientras seguía esperando en la fila, los guardias
de se-guridad aparecieron frente a mí y me exigieron el nombre y los datos de Andreas,
a lo que me negué. Me exigieron que me quedara en la oficina de correos. En ese momento me negué a responder y me dijeron que iban a llamar a la policía. Acabé con otro empleado, que acep-tó amablemente la carta, sólo para decirme un momento después que acababa de ver en su pantalla que Chile actualmente, debido a Covid-19, no acepta acepta ningún correo del extranjero. Pagué
y me fui. No vi a Andreas frente a la oficina
de correos, experimenté un breve momento de pánico al imaginarme a él y a Bennie en
la cárcel, pero los encontré a la vuelta de
la esquina. Te en-viaré el vídeo, tengo que editarlo todavía.

Andreas, Bennie and me went to the post office today to finally post the envelope to Máx in Chile.The clerk in a quite rude
manner pointed out to Andreas that
filming in the post office is not allowed. Andreas took his cell phone down, and rather surprisedly I asked why not? Only to hear that it is not allowed, so I asked for the reason
and received the reply VERBOTEN without any further explanation, coming along with
a strong odour of a Germany / Austria of 80 years ago. I submitted the envelope. The clerk asked me whats in it and I replied „paper“. He very rudely said to Andreas that he must give the clerk his cell phone as he needed to check what he filmed. Andreas refused, saying he had deleted the video, and that this was a request beyond the clerk’s authority.
The clerk threatened to call the police. Andreas replied to please do so. Three private security guards appeared, asking Andreas
to stand in place and show his identity card. Andreas refused, as asking IDs is not within the rights of security guards in Austria. We agreed that Andreas would wait with Bennie in front of the post office, while I waited in
line to post the letter. Shortly after, while still waiting in line, the security guards appeared in front of me, demanding from me Andreas’ name and details, which I refused. They demanded that I stay in the post office. At this point I refused to reply and they said they are going to call police now.It was my turn at the counter. I ended up with a different clerk, who politely accepted the letter, only to tell me a moment later that he just saw on his screen that Chile currently, due to Covid-19, does not accept any mail from abroad. I paid and left. I did not see Andreas in front of the post office, experienced a short moment of panic as I already pictured him and Bennie in jail, but found them around the corner. I will send you the video, need to edit still.
