Roald Dahl





           FEARLESS - CREATIVE - INSPIRATIONAL





          Roald Dahl was born on the 13th of September 1916 in Llandaff, UK. He is most
          well-known as an accomplished author, but has also been a pilot, a husband, a
          father and much more. Some of his famous books include Matilda, The Witches
          and The BFG.

          Roald was a mischievous child. He was always full of energy and loved to spend
          time at his Grandparent's house. His father, Harold Dahl, had a job as
          a businessman. He moved on to become an aviator but died soon after getting
          the job. Roald's older sister, Astri, died from a burst appendix just months later.
          The sudden deaths left Roald speechless for months.

          In 1925, Roald started at St Peter's, in Weston-Super-Mare. He excelled at
          schooland had big dreams for his career. In 1937, hegraduated.

          In November 1939, Roald decided to enlist in the Royal Air Force, aged 23. He
          loved his job, even though he couldn't spend much time with his family. He
          married Felicity Dahl, and they had 5 kids.


          The next year, Roald was involved in a plane crash. He suffered a fractured skull
          and his nose pushed back into his head. He managed to escape the plane just
          seconds before seconds before it burst into flames. He was rushed to hospital.
          Remarkably, hequickly recovered.

          In 1961 he finally gave up flying and started a career as a children's book
          author He wrote and wrote and finally published his first book, The Gremlins.
          Roald had high hopes- he believed that one day it would get turned into a
          movie! Sadly, it was very unsuccessful.

          When Roald released his book, 'James and the Giant Peach' it was extremely p
          opular. He continued to write and continued to produce wonders. Some of his
          most famous works include Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (which he
          produced a sequel for and was made into a movie), Matilda, and his auto-
          biography, Boy.

          Roald has won many awards for his books. He died on the 23rd of November
          1990, aged 74.

          Roald is and always will be a significant person in history. His books
          have changed many childhoods, and his adventures are amazing stories. Roald
          Dahl will always be remembered for his dramatic and breath-taking life.
