Cathy Freeman

Cathy Freeman was born on the 16 of February 1973 at
Slade point, Australia. She is well known for being a very fast
runner. She grew up in Mackay, Queensland. At sixteen she
won her first gold medal (and her first medal ever) at the
commonwealthgames. She is now 47 years old.
Cathy Freeman is the second eldest of her four siblings, her
older sister Anne-Marie freeman was born in 1966 and died
in 2000.
Cathy was named the young Australian of the year in 1998
for being a great runner.
Cathy won her first medal at the olympics on the 10th of the
5th 2000. She broke the Olympic record for the 400meter
race. She did it in 49.77 seconds and the previous record was
50 seconds.
Cathy started the Cathy freeman foundation in 2007. The
Cathy freeman foundation inspires people to do sport and
win medals for their country.
Cathy freeman is a well-known Australian for being a great
runner. She was the first Aboriginal to win an Olympic gold
medal in 2000. Cathy Freeman’s name is known by people all
over the world.
